"While he knew firsthand how dangerous and unforgiving the sea could be, Merlin still found peace in watching the flow and ebb of the swirling waves."

Yeah, the dragon carved into the cliff face was a big element in the story, so I wanted to get it into the illustration. I'm glad you could tell what it's meant to be. :)

I love Merlin in his jacket. I love him. Words cannot describe. Also, his faaaaccce! So sombre and awesome. I'm not gonna lie, I think just that look on his face made me fall in love with him all over again, only in a more serious way. I just can't describe the 'deep-breath' feeling his look gives me. It's a strange disconnect between the very detailed Merlin and the not-so-detailed town, but I think I like it. Very gloomy, ominous stormclouds behind Merlin though. Or are they leaving? I can't really tell. Though that might be the point. :)

Thank you, I'm really glad you liked it. I made the town a bit less detailed partly because it's further away, partly because Merlin is the main point of interest in the piccie and I didn't want to distract too much from him, and partly...in fact mainly...because I'm rubbish at painting landscapes.

The stormclouds are rolling in. I THINK I painted this before that actual part of the story had been written, and put the storm clouds in to make the sky look a bit dramatic. But then when this part of the story WAS written it turns out that a big storm actually does break just after this point in the story. So that worked out quite luckily.

Hee hee, softening edge cures most faults. I do that with hands. Hide them... *Always* Lol. Backgrounds/landscapes are haaaarrrrddd.

Hey, you're psychic! Whatever works right?

Mmm, Merlin in a spiffy jacket. I keep coming back to that. Makes him look all badass. You know Arthur would be all up in that jacket. :P

I like hands, but I do agree that they're very hard to draw. They often seem to have a lot of someone's personality in them though, so I like to try to put them in.

I can't draw people from behind, people's shoulders and backs I find tremendously hard to get right.

Arthur would pull him close, and then slide his hands up under Merlin's jacket to keep them warm. Merlin would yelp, but then relax as Arthur's icy fingers quickly warmed up...

That's the thing, good hands can make or break a pose.

And really? I'm really good with the whole torso/spine from the back thing. I don't have issues with drawing from behind it just seems to be anything from the wrist and ankle down (I'm not so great with feet but I'm getting progressively better).

Once they started dating of course there would be snuggles. But you know that until that point he would see Merlin in that jacket and want to jump his bones. "Sexy, leather, Merlin, oh god."

We'll have to collaborate, and you can do the back, and I'll do the hands.

I find feet quite hard, but I think I'm getting better. I think men's bare feet are easier than men's feet in shoes actually. I hate trying to draw men's shoes.

Love that last paragraph you wrote, Arthur lusting after sexy leather-clad Merlin, ooh yeah.

Works for me! Lol. Oh I meant to mention earlier. I did actually start writing zombie-verse Merlin. Haven't finished it but should you like to read what I've got I could send it to you.

SHOES SUCK! Death to shoes always! Lol. I hate shoes. Every shoe I get right is another fifty I get wrong. Screw them anyway. All my characters shall be barefoot or in socks (and probably in bed because of it XD).

Mmhmm, you know he would. Smexy leather-Merlin. ;)

I'd absolutely LOVE to read it, but unfortunately our computer has now gone wrong. I'm going to be able to briefly get on to someone else's laptop just to check my emails now and again, but fandom is going to have to fly out the window until we get the computer fixed, (and god knows when that will be) :(
